# Manage your profile and password

> Open your Simio profile, change your password, reset a forgotten password, and know what to do if you get an email about a password change you did not make.

Your profile page holds your personal information and, if your company signs in with a password, the password of your Simio account.

## Open your profile

**1. Open the user menu**

Click your initials and name in the bottom-left corner of the sidebar.

**2. Open your profile**

Click **Profile**. Your profile page opens with two sections in the left menu: **Personal information** and **Password**.

**Personal information** shows your name and email address and lets you choose the interface language. See [Interface language](https://docs.alcmeon.ai/simio/platform/interface-language.md).

> [!NOTE]
>
> If your company signs in with Microsoft or Google, the **Password** section is not shown. Your password is managed by your company's account provider, not by Simio.

## Password rules

Every new password must have:

* at least 12 characters
* one uppercase letter and one lowercase letter
* one digit
* one special character, such as `!`, `-` or `#`

Simio also refuses a password that has appeared in a known data breach, even if it follows every rule. Choose a password you do not use anywhere else.

The rules are listed under the new password field and each one is checked as you type. Passwords you set before these rules existed keep working until you change them.

## Change your password

**1. Open the Password section**

In your profile, click **Password**.

**2. Fill in the form**

Enter your current password, then your new password twice.

**3. Confirm**

Click **Change password**, read the warning, then confirm. Simio checks that your new password has not appeared in a known data breach.

**4. Sign in again**

Once the password is changed, you are signed out and taken to the sign-in page. Sign in with your new password.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Changing your password signs you out of Simio **on all your devices and browsers**, including the one you are using. Anyone who was signed in to your account, on any device, has to sign in again with the new password.

If you enter a wrong current password, nothing changes and you stay signed in. After several wrong attempts, your account is temporarily locked, as it is on the sign-in page.

## Reset a forgotten password

**1. Ask for a reset link**

On the sign-in page, click **Reset password**, enter your email address, then click **Change my password**.

**2. Open the email**

You receive an email with a link to reset your password. The link works once and expires after 1 hour.

**3. Choose a new password**

Enter a new password that follows the [password rules](#password-rules), confirm it, then click **Reset Password**. You are taken to the sign-in page.

A reset also signs you out of all your devices and browsers.

## The "password changed" email

Each time your password is changed or reset, Simio sends an email to your address with the date and time of the change.

* **If you made the change**, you can ignore it.
* **If you did not**, someone else may have access to your account. Click **Reset my password** in the email to choose a new password right away, then contact your administrator. The link works once and expires after 24 hours. Resetting your password signs everyone out of your account.
